In partnership with Keep Louisiana Beautiful, St. Mary Parish Library has launched a new initiative to provide litter clean-up kits for check-out. With a library card, you can borrow a kit complete with a safety vest, a trash grabber, and garbage bags. This program aims to encourage locals to take pride in their communities and clean up litter in areas they frequent for work, living, and fun. Litter is a significant environmental concern that affects our quality of life. By working together to clean up litter and prevent it from accumulating in the first place, we can all contribute to a cleaner, greener Louisiana. This program is perfect for students who want to earn service hours for school. Additionally, it’s an excellent opportunity for families, small homeschool groups, youth groups, and scouts to take an active role in caring for their neighborhood. Each library cardholder can check out up to 15 clean-up kits for five days. Contact your local library for more information on how to participate.
